To all my fannish, filkish and dancing friends;

After a long day at a high school assessment, I looked at my phone, to find a sad message from my friend Suli Isaacs. My friend Sandy (nee Nathanson) passed away this morning, peacefully, in her sleep. She had had terminal lung cancer for the past year. I am so glad I saw her at Arisia, albeit very briefly. She was her usual feisty self, big smile, lots of hugs, although traveling in a scooter, and was very thin. She will be missed, both at conventions, and dance floors and NEFFA. My heart goes out to her siblings, David, Phil, Debbie and Sharon, and her daughter Jessica. RIP, Sandy.

Honey, bee stings and reactions to said stings, Mum memorial celebration of life, PISA... a lot going on, and no spoons to deal with writing at the moment. My house is a disaster, with an end on sight, but not until after this weekend, and probably the end of next week.

I do love my friends. I have the best friends. Thank you, all, for giving me support and love and hugs, whether near or far. I do so appreciate you all.

I am collecting stories and remembrances of Badger, to put onto the posters that will be at the MIT memorial on Friday, the Arisia filk on Sunday at 1 pm, Boskone, (hopefully) Lunacon, and Readercon this year.

If you would like to contribute your favorite (or more than one) Badger story, please either post here for all to read, or send them to me at persis at thorndike dot name, and I will print them out and include them.

Just back from seeing badgerthorazineBadger/Alice E. Washburn, read her another Tanya Huff story, Burning Bright (from the Relative Magic collection of short stories) and updated her on the latest well wishes. The nurse said she had been more alert earlier today, was able to respond to the psych who came in this am, despite still being fairly heavily medicated. Just before I got in, they had to move and turn her and clean her and the bed, so she was back up to higher levels of O2, but while I was there, the levels came down a bit. Still a long way to go, but, PROGRESS! :-) Keep those positive energies and prayers coming.

This is actually a placeholder for somethings I want to note down, and hopefully be able to expand upon at some date hopefully sooner than later.

Have started planning for NEFFA, April 20-22, 2012 dance performances. If any one has an international dance group they think should be seen as part of the Dance Performances, please let me know, or send them to the NEFFA web site, where the application link will be up until 23:59 on November 1.

End of farm last week was bittersweet, as I have really enjoyed being the pick up coordinator on Thursdays. It gave me another angle of the CSA world, and I loved seeing the Thursday share holders every week for 4.5 months, seeing the kids grow, sharing recipes and what to do with the items in each weeks share, and discovering new friends. The farm assistants, Lauren and Bea; wonderful strong women I hope to keep in my life. Other workshares also.

Talis finally home from her summer jaunts around the US and the French West Indies. She's almost 16, and itching to drive. Drivers Ed now required in MA to even take a driving test... and expensive! Note: call the local high school to see if they get any price breaks.

Westat project: Long Term Trends. Ongoing from Oct-May... very few hours overall for AA position. I am low person on the totem pole for the cushy positions with Westat. :-(

And, the wife of a dear friend passed on last Saturday evening. Service and burial on Sunday. The benefit of not going to Ohio.
