Badger Stories for Memorial Posters

I am collecting stories and remembrances of Badger, to put onto the posters that will be at the MIT memorial on Friday, the Arisia filk on Sunday at 1 pm, Boskone, (hopefully) Lunacon, and Readercon this year.

If you would like to contribute your favorite (or more than one) Badger story, please either post here for all to read, or send them to me at persis at thorndike dot name, and I will print them out and include them.

No single event stands out in my mind, but I was always impressed by her cheerfulness in spite of her multiple disabilities. She was a cuteness addict, delighting in babies and stuffed animals. She always tried to help out at conventions and could be spotted by her bright colored scooter out in the corridor.

I remember Badger deciding that she had to make it out to OVFF at least once, so she disassembled her scooter and had it boxed up and then went on the train with it, getting various kind strangers to help her out with moving the scooter to and from the convention. Once there she assembled it and was able to use it at the convention. We were all impressed at her chutzpah and her sheer determination.

At Concertino 2009 Badger got into a conversation with some of the hotel staff and wound up recruiting a choir to come out to the lobby and sing Hope Eyrie to the assembled desk crew at 2 a.m. It was epic.
